Braves Report -- Runs Scored - 114 [2nd in NL] Runs Allowed - 74 [4th in NL] - How good is the Braves pitching staff? The Braves allowed only 74 runs while allowing an astronomically high .348 AVG on balls batted in play. They rank 4th in the NL strikeouts and 2nd in walks.
- The Braves signed journeyman OF Trot Nixon, while DFA'ing util Matt Diaz. The Braves are giving him an opportunity to play nearly everyday, although he likely will not be on the roster very long.
- Brandon Jones continues to impress the Braves brass with his gap power. With 3 doubles in 10 games, he has been a solid replacement for Garret Anderson.
- The Braves offered another extension, this time to RF Jeff Francoeur. The offer: $870k per year; 3 years. If signed, the Braves and Francoeur avoid arbitration for the next three seasons.
- Rafael Soriano refuses to negotiate an extension; He told the Braves that he intends to test the 2010 market. Could the Braves trade him? "Highly unlikely," says GM Dan Lauritzen
